Snow festival visitors down

SAPPORO (The Japan News/ANN) - The Sapporo Snow Festival ended Tuesday with attendance down by about 26% compared to the previous year, drawing a little over 2 million people, according to the executive committee of the festival.

The drop in attendance was attributed to the spread of the coronavirus and the Chinese government banning group tours abroad.
On Wednesday morning, some tourists gathered to watch as heavy machinery was used to break down the snow sculptures.
