Workshop helps parents, community to be part of children’s education
TUTONG/KUALA BELAIT (Borneo Bulletin/ANN) - The Students’ Welfare Section of the Department of Schools under the Ministry of Education (MoE) organised a workshop for parents to aid in their children’s success across the Tutong and Belait districts recently.
The event aimed at disseminating information on the Primary Education Initiatives (PEI) and the Secondary Education Initiatives (SEI) and the Growth Mindset (GMS) module.
Participants were divided into three groups; with around 30 participating in the first session of the workshop, while the second and the third sessions consisted of 96 and 64 participants.
The first session took place at Muda Hashim Secondary School’s library, participated by teachers and members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) from secondary schools in Tutong District and Belait District.
Meanwhile, the second session will take place at the Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School today for the teachers and members of the PTA from primary schools in Tutong District.
This will be followed by the final session on April 19 at Muhammad Alam Primary School for teachers and members of the PTA from primary schools in Belait District.
The workshop’s facilitators were Zaimah binti Dollah @ Abdullah, Norhaslinda binti Haji Mohd Adnan, Norhalizah binti Haji Meluddin, Jaleha binti Amit, Ampuan Suzienie binti Ampuan Haji Yusof, Lenny Fadhlina binti Haji Wahid, Hajah Suzilawati binti Haji Saji, Hajah Zurahayatidah binti Ahmad, Nur Darwisyah Hannani binti Abdullah Yong, Dianna binti Haji Taip, Nur Suriatul Atiqah binti Abdul Qayyum Sirul, Siti Nurul Huda binti Haji Zulkifli, Mas Yusdi bin Mazali, Haji Mohammad Bahrin bin Haji Jamaluddin, Muhd Hasbul Wafi bin Abdullah Bundan, Awangku Mohammad Hadi Nazmi bin Pengiran Haji Rosli, Suhaini bin Haji Othman, and Haji Amit bin Haji Omar.
The Head of Group ‘C’ Coordinators, Hajah Jeriah binti Haji Duraman, Head of Students’ Welfare of the Department of Schools spoke about the significance of networking among the stakeholders to support the MoE’s PEI and SEI through an effective home focussing on the parents and the community.
It is hoped that participants will be able to understand the lessons learnt during the workshop and share it among other parents and school communities.
