In Malaysia, air patrol to keep Sulu Seas safe launched
SHAH ALAM, Malaysia (The Star/ANN) - Malaysia has teamed up with Indonesia and the Philippines to launch the Trilateral Air Patrol (TAP) to go after undesirable elements in the Sulu Seas.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein joined his Indonesian and Philippines counterparts, Ryamizard Ryacudu and Delfin Negrillo Lorenzana, at the Subang airbase to launch the joint patrol initiative.
TAP, which is part of a larger cross-country defence initiative, would supplement the ongoing joint maritime patrols by the three countries in areas of concern along the Sulu Seas.
“Serving as the second component of the Trilateral Cooperative Arrangement, it will be conducted jointly with the air crew from the three countries on board the aircraft.
“We have sent a signal today that if you (terrorists) touch any of us, we will face you head on together.”
