Lao Airlines granted IOSA global safety standard
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) - National flag carrier Lao Airlines is set to strengthen cooperation with international bodies in charge of airline safety in a bid to further improve its services in the aviation industry.
Lao Airlines has successfully passed an IOSA audit and renewal registration from the IATA International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).
Last week, the company welcomed a delegation of six senior auditors from Aviation Compliance Solutions (ACS) in Australia, led by IOSA Lead Auditor and Evaluator, Captain Edward Bradley.
Six auditors worked with Lao Airlines from June 24-28 on the evaluation of the airline’s services in 912 related fields of IOSA Standards and Recommended Practice, Check List version 12, Safety, Quality and Security (SQS), Flight Operations, Aircraft Maintenance and Training & Flight Standards.
In addition, the process also included the flight simulator, reporting culture and preventive action, safety culture, safety management system and eliminating significant safety concerns.
The company achieved the globally-recognised IOSA certification in 2015 and now undergoes a safety inspection every two years by the IATA to ensure the required standards are maintained.
IOSA certification represents a significant safety achievement for Lao Airlines and has understandably enhanced trust and confidence among its valued customers.
The certification allows Lao Airlines to manage audit redundancy better, improve audit efficiency, and collaboratively raise overall levels of safety performance across the growing Laos aviation industry.
In 2017, the company received the first renewal IOSA certification, and this was the second renewal approved by the IATA International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and evaluated by Aviation Compliance Solutions (ACS).
In his closing remarks at the 2019 IOSA Registration Renewal Audit, Vice President of Lao Airlines, Mr Somsamay Visounnarath said the IOSA task force team had done a great job and deeply congratulated airline staff for the renewal preparation and achievement.
“After a result of this audit and evaluation, Lao Airlines has achieved much over the past years and will continue to improve its remaining unresolved issues to meet the demands of international standards within the next month,” he said.
Mr Somsamay said the company had been working hard to maintain high quality standards in the flight operations as a permanent member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
“Being a member of IATA is important for Lao Airlines to integrate its markets with other global carriers,” he added.
