District officer launches charity bazaar
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN) - A Community activity like a bazaar can nurture and encourage residents to try entrepreneurship and create innovative mindsets needed for the nation’s socio-economic development.
This was stated by the Tutong District Officer, Haji Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain during the launching ceremony of a charity bazaar being held for three days at the Tutong District Civic Centre Complex.
The bazaar was organised by the Mukim Keriam Consultative Council.
The charity bazaar featured over 24 entrepreneurs, including students from the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
Among those present during the event were YB Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong, Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Tanjong Maya; the Penghulu of Mukim Keriam, Orang Kaya Jaya Putera Dato Paduka Haji Muhammad Taha bin Abdul Rauf, as chairman of the event; Haji Haizul Rizal bin Haji Yahya, Acting Assistant Tutong District Officer; and members of the Mukim Keriam Consultative Council.
Muhammad Afeef bin Haji Mashor, a student participant from UNISSA, said a bazaar such as this helps them to market and introduce their products.
His group came up with a snack product range called Kripsto (crispy popia), which comes in various flavours.
