Brunei Darussalam Enterprise hold dialogue session with Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN) - A dialogue session on Builder’s Licence Registration was held yesterday by DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) in collaboration with the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi).
Held at the Design & Technology Building in Anggerek Desa, the session was focussed on builder’s licence registration, particularly for companies doing construction work in the oil and gas industry, according to a press release from ABCi.
The dialogue was attended by around 50 companies, and was also opened to members of the public who plan to open a business in the construction industry.
The press release noted that the session was one of the initiatives by ABCi in ensuring that builders/contractors are registered with the Ministry of Development, in accordance with the requirements of the Building Control Order 2014.
Registration for the Builder’s Licence was first issued on June 1, 2017, whereby all construction companies must be registered and have a valid builder’s licence before performing any construction work.
Yesterday’s session saw a presentation delivered by Siti Nurzafirah binti Haji Mohd Noor, Special Duties Officer Grade II.
Among the areas touched on in the presentation were processes and procedures for registration of builders, contractors and suppliers.
As she explained, the Builder’s Licence allows companies to carry out construction activities and projects.
The Contractor Registration Certificate allows companies to participate in government tendered projects, while the Supplier Certificate allows companies to participate in government tender for supplying of construction materials.
A question and answer session was then held with Hajah Sarbiah binti Haji Burut, an architect and Eliazar bin Sabtu, Special Duties Officer Grade I from ABCi, before the event came to a close.
