AirAsia targets IATA operational safety audit for all short-haul Asean routes

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN) - AirAsia is targetting to acquire the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) for all short-haul routes in Asean by early next year.

This was highlighted by AirAsia Group Head of Safety Captain Ling Liong Tien, during the recent announcement of AirAsia Malaysia’s successful accreditation by the IOSA.

“We are targetting to have the remaining Asean short-haul airlines in the group undergo the IOSA audit by early next year, so our guests can have that extra peace of mind wherever they fly AirAsia,” he said in a statement.

IOSA is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess an airline’s operational management and control systems and is regarded by the industry as the global benchmark for safety management.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat noted that this accreditation by a globally recognised safety benchmark demonstrates the group’s commitment to safe and secure operations.

“Safety is our top priority, and we will continue work hard to ensure we maintain the highest levels of operational integrity,” he noted.

AirAsia Malaysia is the third airline within AirAsia Group to achieve IOSA accreditation, after AirAsia X Malaysia in 2014 and AirAsia Indonesia last month.
